Abstract: A prototype for dedicated observations of pulsars and other astrophysical transients in the frequency range 50\,-\,80\,MHz has been recently commissioned at the Gauribidanur radio observatory near Bangalore in India. The antenna set-up, analog & digital receiver systems, and the initial observations are presented.
