Generalizability Across User Populations

Determine whether the observed Value Faces results generalize to user populations with messaging norms different from those of the predominantly young, university-educated, and male study sample.

Background

The evaluation involved 18 participants, most of whom were young, university-educated adults familiar with technology and text-based messaging; 66% were male. Although statistically significant effects were found within the tested gender subgroups, the study does not establish whether the findings extend to populations with different demographic characteristics or communication practices.

References

However, it remains an open question as to whether the results are generalizable to other user populations with different messaging norms.
