Validate spike-camera depth methods for space-robot control

Validate whether the intensity-integrating spike-camera stereo-depth method SSDEFormer can support space-robot control under relevant sensing and dynamical conditions.

Background

The paper reviews SSDEFormer as a terrestrial method that encodes temporal spike accumulations and applies a Transformer to stereo-depth estimation. Although the method is evaluated on synthetic data and real PKU-Spike-Stereo recordings, the review identifies its use in space-robot control as unresolved. Establishing this would require testing whether its geometric outputs remain sufficiently accurate and timely for autonomous control under space-relevant illumination, motion, and computational constraints.

References

This specialist terrestrial method offers a candidate geometric input for robot policies; space-robot control remains untested.
