Unknown stellar parameters (age) of DraChi’s obscured central star

Determine the age and other fundamental stellar parameters of DraChi’s obscured central star, which is inferred from its scattered-light spectrum to be approximately A9-type but whose key properties, including age, remain undetermined.

Background

The authors fit an archival optical spectrum using PyHammer and find an A9 spectral type with AV≈0.95. Based on this, they infer a stellar mass range of about 1.5–2.0 M⊙ and effective temperatures consistent with pre–main-sequence models, but highlight that several parameters of the hidden star are not yet constrained.

Improved constraints on the star’s age, mass, and radius would reduce degeneracies in radiative transfer modeling and help interpret the disk’s evolutionary state, especially given indications that DraChi may be transitioning between Class I and II.

References

Given that many parameters of the hidden star are unknown such as the age, a conservative mass range for the star in DraChi is 1.5 - 2.0 M$_{\odot}$.
