Long-term evolution of the circumstellar material

Characterize the long-term evolution of the circumstellar material surrounding CXOU J052218.4+332820 and CXOU J052304.2+332846.

Background

The study identifies a transient decretion disk around Star 1 and a dynamically evolving, accreting and obscuring circumstellar environment around Star 2. The available spectroscopy and photometry provide snapshots and multi-year light curves but do not sufficiently constrain how these structures build up, dissipate, and change over longer timescales.

The authors explicitly identify long-term evolution as insufficiently constrained and recommend coordinated optical and X-ray monitoring, spectropolarimetry, and high-resolution X-ray spectroscopy.

References

While our multi-wavelength analysis provides a consistent picture of the nature and circumstellar environments of both stars, the long-term evolution of their circumstellar material remains poorly constrained.
