Joint route optimization under resource constraints

Develop a joint optimization method for Tram-FL’s circulation route and mini-batch allocation under heterogeneous computation capabilities, time-varying communication bandwidths, and node availability.

Background

The route rule in Tram-FL orders nodes primarily by their allocated batch counts and assumes unrestricted logical connectivity. A complete training-scheduling formulation would jointly account for computation, communication, and availability constraints, which interact with batch allocation and route selection. The paper explicitly leaves this joint optimization unresolved.

References

We therefore leave the joint optimization of the circulation route under resource constraints to future work.
