Generalization beyond emotion-classification tasks

Investigate whether the SIAB head set and internally derived attention intervention generalize to non-emotion classification tasks.

Background

SIAB is evaluated on two emotion-recognition benchmarks chosen to represent different affective-evidence distributions. Although the same head set is reused across those benchmarks, the paper does not establish whether the method transfers to classification problems whose target states are not emotions.

Generalization to non-emotion classification tasks is left to future work.

Future work should move from a fixed global intervention to sample-adaptive control, where intervention strength and target tokens vary with each example's uncertainty and attention pattern, and test whether the same interface extends to other latent conversational states such as uncertainty, trust, or intent.
