Matched information-density ablation for persona conditioning

Conduct a fully matched ablation comparing raw comment-history conditioning with equally long synthetic summaries distilled from the same comments, in order to determine whether the observed performance difference is attributable to information type rather than information quantity.

Background

The study compares a history-based conditioning method, which supplies 5–20 raw comments, with profile- and behavior-based methods, which supply compressed summaries. Although the authors stratify profile-based performance by profile length, they do not perform an analogous analysis for history length because the available lower-comment buckets are too sparse. Consequently, a fully controlled comparison using conditioning inputs of matched information density remains unresolved.

References

We did not perform the analogous analysis for history length because the conditioning pool is concentrated in the 16--20 comment range, leaving lower-comment buckets too sparse to support a meaningful comparison. A fully matched ablation---e.g., comparing history against equally long synthetic summaries distilled from the same comments---remains a direction for future work.
