Dynamic security-performance tradeoff in AFDM-enabled ISAC

Determine how to dynamically balance physical-layer security and integrated sensing and communication performance in AFDM-enabled ISAC under rapidly changing user, target, and eavesdropper locations.

Background

AFDM’s configurable chirp parameters and index-modulation capabilities create additional waveform dimensions for physical-layer security, including concealment of waveform characteristics and resistance to unauthorized demodulation. However, rapidly varying channels and sensing requirements complicate the joint design of secure transmission, communication, and sensing.

The paper specifically leaves unresolved the dynamic tradeoff among security, communication rate, sensing accuracy, and energy consumption when users, targets, and eavesdroppers move. Solving this problem would support adaptive secure AFDM-enabled ISAC in highly dynamic environments.
