Cross-lingual generalizability of SCONPOS and PAS

Determine whether the findings on persona overuse, the mitigation effect of Self-CONtrastive Persona Overuse Suppression (SCONPOS), and the evaluation behavior of the Persona Appropriateness Score (PAS) generalize beyond English-language persona-based dialogue datasets.

Background

The experiments evaluate SCONPOS and PAS only on the English-language PersonaChat and MBTI-S2Conv datasets. Because persona expression and dialogue styles may differ across languages, the observed persona-overuse patterns and the effectiveness of SCONPOS may not transfer directly to cross-lingual settings. The authors therefore leave the generalization of both the findings and the proposed tools to diverse languages unresolved.
