Compatibility of toroidal-field topologies with perturbative magnetic diagnostics

Determine whether direct comparisons between the non-perturbative ACOR calculations and the perturbative magnetic-field analysis remain valid when the toroidal magnetic-field topology used by ACOR is incompatible with the topology assumed in the perturbative treatment.

Background

The paper compares magnetic frequency shifts and inferred field strengths obtained with the non-perturbative ACOR implementation against perturbative calculations. However, the toroidal magnetic-field configuration adopted in the ACOR study is not compatible with the magnetic topology used in the cited perturbative analysis.

Consequently, the reported differences in inferred field strength cannot be interpreted as a straightforward estimate of perturbative-method error. The authors explicitly characterize the validity of such direct comparisons as unresolved.
