Assess whether clump-scale infalling flows are common in EGO protoclusters

Assess whether clump-scale infalling velocity flows, including filamentary flows converging on EGO-hosting clumps, are common across the ALMA EGO-10 protocluster sample by combining the 12 m ALMA data with the 7 m ACA observations and analyzing the available molecular tracers.

Background

The paper interprets the positive relationship between the protocluster Q-parameter and the cm-wavelength continuum luminosity-to-mass ratio as evidence consistent with global collapse and hierarchical, clump-fed formation. Direct observational evidence would require clump-scale infalling velocity fields. Existing single-dish surveys produced inconsistent detections of blue-asymmetric profiles, and the authors propose interferometric molecular-line analysis to determine whether the converging-flow structures seen in one region occur throughout the sample.

In a future work, we will combine the 12\,m ALMA EGO-10 data with the 7\,m ACA observations, to perform a kinematic analysis in a number of molecular tracers covered by our 1.3\,mm tuning, to assess whether such systems are common across the sample.
