Algorithmic questions are central: polynomial-time algorithms exist for equilibrium detection and optimality in restricted game classes (e.g., dynamic programming for symmetric singleton congestion games (0807.2011)), while generalizations invoke combinatorial or matching reductions. More general settings yield NP-hardness, necessitating approximations or heuristics.

3. Coordination, Central Institutions, and Collaborative Altruism

Beyond individual decision-making, several frameworks analyze coordination mechanisms or the influence of central altruistic institutions. Unresolved challenges include robust scaling to heterogeneity, dealing with partial or delayed information, integrating ethical frameworks at scale, and balancing incentive compatibility with social welfare maximization.
