Validate the IDPD model across diverse pathological conditions

Validate the generalizability of the intravoxel diffusivity probability distribution (IDPD) model across diverse pathological conditions through large-scale, multicenter cohort studies.

Background

The study demonstrates the IDPD model in physical phantoms, healthy human brain tissue, and a limited brain-glioma application. These experiments support the model’s potential clinical utility but do not establish that its diffusivity distributions and derived parameters are reliable across the broad range of diseases and pathological microstructural alterations encountered in clinical practice.

The authors explicitly identify large-scale, multicenter validation as necessary to determine whether the model generalizes beyond the investigated settings.

References

Finally, the IDPD model is inherently generalizable across diverse pathological conditions, warranting future validation through large-scale, multicenter cohort studies.
