Validate the burn-injury model against patient data

Determine how accurately the mathematical burn-injury healing model predicts the healing of real burn injuries by fitting and validating its parameters against patient data, before using it for clinical predictions or treatment planning.

Background

The model parameters used in the simulations are based on medical literature, as introduced by Koppenol, but the model has not yet been fitted to patient data. Consequently, the predictive accuracy of the model for real burn injuries remains unresolved, and clinical use for prediction or treatment planning requires model validation against patient observations.

References

However, the model has not been fitted to patient data. So, for now, it is still impossible to say how well the model can predict the healing of real burn injuries. Model validation would be required before it can be used for clinical predictions or treatment planning.
