Transfer of Prefix-Alignment Diagnostics to Validity-Passing Trained Generators

Determine whether the D3 prefix-alignment diagnostic transfers predictively to trained generators that produce validity-passing semantic-ID paths, beyond prefix-structured exposure and non-prefix ranking protocols.

Background

SIDScope evaluates D3 as a measure of behavioral organization in semantic-ID prefixes and finds that its association with candidate exposure is strongest when retrieval or scoring explicitly consumes those prefixes. The association weakens for generic non-prefix rankers, and the available trained-generator audits do not establish stable transfer to downstream NDCG.

The paper therefore explicitly leaves unresolved whether D3 can predict the quality of trained generators that generate valid semantic-ID paths. Resolving this requires additional validity-passing trained-generator evaluations under suitable experimental controls.

The D3 ladder in Table~\ref{tab:candidate-exposure} supports prefix-structured exposure analysis and shows weaker associations for generic non-prefix rankers; transfer to validity-passing trained generators remains an open empirical question.
