Background

Ferroelasticity is established in the relevant materials, but evidence for switchable ferroelectricity is complicated by small candidate polar distortions, molecular-cation disorder, and ionic conduction that can mimic hysteresis. The review therefore treats the existence of macroscopic switchable polarization as unresolved.
