Complete stabilization of D-brane position moduli

Establish the full stabilization of the D2- and D6-brane position moduli in the massive IIA G2-orientifold compactifications by incorporating the brane positions into the appropriate superpotential or scalar potential.

Background

The D-branes used for tadpole cancellation are free to move in the compact internal space. The paper assumes that their compact moduli space prevents serious inconsistencies but does not determine their stabilized positions. A complete treatment would require extremizing a potential or superpotential that includes the brane-position degrees of freedom.

References

The D-branes are of course free to move, and one should determine their positions by extremizing the appropriate superpotential (or some suitable potential) that also includes the D-brane positions. However, since their moduli space is compact, they are not expected to cause serious inconsistencies in our construction, and we leave the analysis of their full stabilization for future work.
