Determine the recurrence period and orbital phase connection of disturbances in the compact sep15M simulation

Determine a robust recurrence period and phase-resolved connection to the binary orbit for quasi-periodic outflow-like disturbances in the large-scale jet of the compact sep15M supermassive black hole binary simulation.

Background

The later sep15M continuation follows a more compact binary for only about 25.5 orbits while the orbital plane and the primary-spin orientation evolve rapidly. Its spatially separated fast regions are consistent with disturbances generated when the secondary black hole loads the primary’s funnel, but the short duration and changing geometry prevent the simulation from determining a reliable recurrence period or establishing the same phase-resolved orbital relationship found in the longer sep25M run.

References

However, the shorter duration and rapidly changing geometry of sep15M do not allow us to establish a robust recurrence period or the same phase-resolved connection to the binary orbit.
