Resolve the magnetic structures of LiFe6Ge4 and LiFe6Ge5

Determine the experimentally realized magnetic structures of LiFe6Ge4 and LiFe6Ge5 beyond the assignment of their antiferromagnetic character and theoretical AFM2 ordering.

Background

The calculations assign AFM2 collinear ground states to LiFe6Ge4 and LiFe6Ge5, consistent with their experimentally established antiferromagnetic behavior and with prior theoretical work. Nevertheless, the detailed spin arrangements in these compounds have not been determined experimentally.

Experimental resolution of their magnetic structures would test the calculated AFM2 assignments and clarify the role of competing interlayer exchange interactions in these layered kagome materials.

Although the detailed magnetic structures of LiFe6Ge4 and LiFe6Ge5 have not yet been experimentally resolved, our AFM2 assignment is consistent with previous theoretical predictions [14].
