Privacy-budget governance across repeated releases

Determine how to manage differential-privacy budgets when multiple datasets containing the same cohort are continuously released through the ReLEAF framework.

Background

Educational real-world data may be collected and released repeatedly, with successive datasets containing overlapping or identical cohorts. Repeated differentially private releases can consume a cumulative privacy budget, creating a governance problem that is not resolved by evaluating each release in isolation. The paper explicitly identifies the management of this cumulative budget as an unaddressed question for the framework.

Finally, managing privacy budgets for DP is also an unaddressed governance question, when multiple datasets containing the same cohort are continuously released (Khavkin & Toch, 2025; Küchler et al., 2025).
