Oscillation contamination in short-term voltage-stability estimation

Develop a systematic, parameter-free solution to contamination of Lyapunov-exponent estimates by damped oscillations in short-term voltage-stability monitoring, particularly for mixed-mode oscillations.

Background

Finite-time Lyapunov-exponent estimates for short-term voltage stability can be spuriously affected by damped oscillations that are stable but increase the measured divergence rate. The paper reviews phase-correction and Koopman-preprocessing approaches, but reports that neither fully resolves the issue and that no systematic parameter-free method exists for mixed-mode oscillations.
