Determine the origin of discrepant historical light curves

Determine the origin of the discrepant 2007–2008 R-band light curves of BS Cas reported by Y08 and H10, including the differing O’Connell effects and secondary-eclipse depths, using additional observational evidence.

Background

The paper compares light curves obtained during approximately the same observing season by Y08, H10, and SuperWASP. The Y08 light curve shows a stronger O’Connell effect and a substantially shallower secondary minimum than the H10 and SuperWASP curves, indicating that the discrepancy cannot be explained simply by ordinary observational variation within the system. Because the available data do not identify the cause, the authors exclude the Y08 curves from their homogeneous simultaneous modeling.

The origin of this discrepancy could not be determined from the available data.
