Measure the temporal stability of marketplace exposure profiles

Determine how quickly marketplace exposure profiles change over time and whether rankings of marketplaces based on threat or risk remain stable across repeated observations.

Background

The paper reports that adding a download-banded cohort changed the observed threat ordering between the two marketplaces, whereas the risk ordering remained stable. This sensitivity to corpus revision shows that a single crawl may not provide a stable basis for marketplace comparison.

The authors propose repeated observation of a marketplace to measure temporal movement in its exposure profile and test whether rankings inferred from one snapshot survive subsequent crawls.

References

One snapshot cannot say which of those is the stable reading. Observing a marketplace repeatedly would measure how quickly a catalog's exposure profile moves, and whether an ordering taken from a single crawl survives the next one.
