Lag and effects of dynamically changing production policies

Determine whether dynamically varying a production policy, or changing the production control policy itself, produces a lag between the policy change and its effects, and characterize that lag when it occurs.

Background

The experiments evaluate fixed combinations of sequencing and routing parameters over an entire simulation run. In the discussion, the authors note that the magnitude and timing of the effects of changing these policies depend on the system’s initial state and may even be counterproductive. The unresolved issue is therefore whether policy changes generate a measurable delay before their operational effects appear, and how that delay should be assessed.

Moreover, further research will investigate the control mechanism to dynamically assess whether varying the production policy, or actually changing the control policy itself, leads to a lag between the policy change and its effects.
