Investigate the Mott transition within TPSC+

Investigate the physics of the Mott transition within the improved two-particle self-consistent approach (TPSC+) for the two-dimensional nearest-neighbor Hubbard model.

Background

The paper applies TPSC+ to the pseudogap regime of the two-dimensional Hubbard model and benchmarks its single-particle and susceptibility results against diagrammatic quantum Monte Carlo and cold-atom studies. The authors note that TPSC+ has been quantitatively successful at weak-to-intermediate interaction strengths and qualitatively successful at stronger interactions, but identify the Mott-transition physics as a topic not yet addressed within this framework. Establishing how TPSC+ describes the Mott transition would extend the approach beyond its current pseudogap-focused applications and test its reliability in the strong-correlation regime.
