Interpretation of the ego-vision signal in FOG detection

Determine whether the ego-vision signal used for freezing-of-gait detection reflects the patient’s motion, environmental context, or both.

Background

The study finds that frozen egocentric-video representations contain predictive information relevant to freezing-of-gait detection, but the experiments do not establish what information those representations encode. The signal may arise from visual cues about the person’s own movement, environmental triggers and surrounding context, or an interaction between the two. The paper identifies deeper interpretability analysis, including explainability techniques applied to the learned feature space, as a way to resolve this uncertainty.
