Independently verify the July Fornax--Eridanus shower candidate

Verify the July Fornax--Eridanus meteor-shower candidate through independent recovery or identification in another meteor-orbit catalogue.

Background

The July Fornax--Eridanus candidate is supported by a compact radiant, recurrence in both observing years, and an approximately fivefold excess over the adjacent-interval background. Comparisons with the IAU Meteor Data Center Working List and minor-body catalogues do not provide a convincing existing shower identification or parent body.

Because the evidence is based on the present PANSY observations, the authors regard the candidate as provisional. Independent recovery or confirmation in another orbit catalogue is explicitly required to establish its status.

References

Its status remains provisional until the stream is recovered independently or identified in another orbit catalogue.
