Generalizability of concatenation conditioning across wavelet configurations

Determine whether the reconstruction-accuracy gains from concatenation-based SRS conditioning extend across wavelet configurations beyond the evaluated Daubechies 10, level 8 model and fixed frequency grids.

Background

The study compares concatenation and Hadamard encodings for conditioning a conditional variational autoencoder on a target shock response spectrum and its evaluation frequencies. Concatenation performs better on the fixed frequency grids examined in the conditioning study, but the experiments do not establish whether that advantage is robust to changes in the mother wavelet, decomposition level, or other wavelet-decoder configurations.

The unresolved issue concerns the transferability of the observed conditioning benefit rather than the performance of the specific configuration evaluated in the paper. Resolving it would require systematic experimentation across the model library’s wavelet families and decomposition levels, potentially under different frequency-grid designs.

References

Concatenation conditioning improved accuracy on the evaluated fixed grids; whether these gains extend across other wavelet configurations remains to be established.
