Effect of representation-guidance amplification on encoder semantics

Determine whether amplifying the representation-induced velocity offset increases decoder reliance on the learned representation and thereby encourages the encoder in Representation Guidance to learn more semantic features.

Background

Representation Guidance (RG) combines a low-dimensional bottleneck with a representation-guided flow-matching objective for pixel diffusion transformers. The paper reports that the bottleneck improves spatial structure and that representation guidance further strengthens functional specialization and global semantics in the encoder.

The authors explicitly present the proposed causal explanation as a conjecture rather than as an established result: increasing the representation-induced offset may force the decoder to depend more strongly on the representation, which could in turn shape the encoder toward more semantic features. Establishing this mechanism would clarify how RG changes internal representations.
