Resolve the origin of variability in PSR J0506−66

Determine whether the time- and frequency-dependent emission variability of PSR J0506−66 is caused by intrinsic nulling, scintillation, or a low-flux state.

Background

PSR J0506−66 shows emission confined to different frequency ranges in separate observations and an approximately 30-minute interval of nondetection. These features may reflect scintillation, intrinsic nulling, or an ordinary low-flux state. The available signal-to-noise ratio is insufficient to discriminate among these possibilities, leaving the physical interpretation unresolved.

References

However, the available S/N is insufficient to distinguish intrinsic nulling from scintillation or a low-flux state.
