Determine whether periodicity preceded the accretion event in G323.46−0.08

Determine whether periodic maser variability was already present before the proposed accretion event in G323.46−0.08.

Background

The paper compares the possible accretion-induced periodicity in NGC 6334I-MM1 with the periodicity reported for G323.46−0.08. Although an accretion event has been proposed as a mechanism for inducing periodicity, the available monitoring of G323.46−0.08 began at least 1000 days after the event.

Because there are no observations covering the relevant pre-event interval, the authors cannot establish whether the periodic behavior was caused by the accretion event or existed beforehand.

However there is no way to determine if periodicity was present before the event.
