Determine whether the six computational primitives are complete

Determine whether Arouse, Orient, Valence, Position, Boundary, and Attune constitute a complete set of computational primitives required for adaptation.

Background

The paper proposes six substrate-neutral computations as the primitive operations underlying adaptive existence. The candidates were selected using necessity, universality, conservation, and irreducibility, and two independent lines of reasoning converge on the same six primitives.

However, filtering an initial candidate list cannot establish completeness because the result depends on which candidates were considered. The paper therefore leaves unresolved whether an additional primitive exists or whether the proposed six exhaust the computational demands of adaptation.

References

Although it remains an open question whether these six form a complete set, the fact that two separate methods converge on the same conceptual terms increases confidence that this set captures the principal computational demands of adaptation.
