Determine author–institution affiliation mapping for retracted publications

Ascertain the mapping between individual authors and their institutional affiliations for the Indian-affiliated retracted publications analyzed using the Crossref-acquired Retraction Watch database, in order to identify which author is affiliated with which institute.

Background

The study analyzes 3,244 Indian-affiliated retracted publications sourced from the Crossref-acquired Retraction Watch database. In discussing data limitations, the authors note missing corresponding author information and ambiguity about author–institution linkages. This prevents clear attribution of institutional association for each author within the retracted records.

Resolving this ambiguity would enable more precise assessments of institutional responsibility, collaboration structures, and patterns of misconduct across institutional categories identified in the paper (e.g., private colleges, public universities, national institutes, and medical institutions).
