Construct a detailed radio spectral index map of Teleios

Construct a high-fidelity spatial map of the radio spectral index across Teleios (G305.4–2.2), covering both shell and interior regions, by acquiring higher-sensitivity, multi-frequency radio-continuum data with adequate short-baseline coverage and modelling of Galactic background fluctuations, in order to quantify spatial variations in the synchrotron spectrum.

Background

The present datasets lack the sensitivity and short-baseline coverage necessary to recover Teleios’s large angular-size emission uniformly. In addition, fluctuations on brightness and size scales comparable to Teleios from Galactic background structures complicate spectral mapping.

A detailed spectral index map is essential to understand energy distribution of relativistic electrons, magnetic field compression, and potential local spectral flattening or steepening across the remnant.

References

It was not possible to generate a detailed spectral index map due to the low signal-to-noise, missing short spacings, and the presence of fluctuations on comparable brightness and size scales from the Galactic background.
