Confirm and characterize the putative companion around TOI-5293 A

Confirm and characterize the putative substellar companion around TOI-5293 A, including its mass and orbital separation, using additional observations that can resolve the poorly constrained astrometric solution.

Background

The joint Gaia DR2 and DR3 astrometric fit for TOI-5293 suggests a possible substellar companion with an estimated mass of approximately 10–100 Jupiter masses and a separation of roughly 0.1–2 AU. The astrometric posterior is poorly constrained, with tails extending toward both smaller and larger separations.

Existing radial-velocity and speckle-imaging data exclude much of the astrometrically favored parameter space, but a companion of approximately 1–20 Jupiter masses at or beyond about 0.5 AU remains consistent with all available observations. Additional astrometric data, especially Gaia Data Release 4 epoch astrometry, are needed to determine whether the companion exists and to constrain its properties.
