Common Weibull shape-parameter inference under censoring

Establish interval inference for the common shape parameter of several Weibull populations under progressive type-II censoring, thereby addressing the absence of prior investigation of this censored-data setting.

Background

The paper studies interval estimation of a common Weibull shape parameter and the associated common coefficient of variation when several populations have unequal rate parameters and are observed under progressive type-II censoring. Prior work cited in the paper had considered common-shape inference primarily for complete samples, while the authors identify the censored-data version as a methodological gap. The problem is important because the Weibull shape parameter represents the common failure mechanism in reliability applications and censoring produces a substantially more complicated likelihood structure than complete sampling.
