Full 11D Lorentz invariance of BFSS Matrix Theory

Establish a conclusive proof that BFSS Matrix Theory reproduces the full eleven-dimensional Lorentz group in the Discrete Light Cone Quantisation framework, confirming exact 11D Lorentz invariance of the theory beyond consistency checks and effective-field-theory approximations.

Background

The BFSS matrix model is conjectured to be dual to M-theory in DLCQ, and numerous consistency checks have compared supergraviton scattering in supergravity with D0-brane bound state interactions in Matrix Theory. While many effective interaction terms and scattering amplitudes have matched, a definitive, general proof of full eleven-dimensional Lorentz invariance within BFSS has not been established.

In this work the authors derive a soft theorem for composite operators within the large-distance effective theory, providing additional supporting evidence for aspects of Lorentz symmetry via connections to asymptotic symmetries. However, they note that the overarching question of a complete proof of 11D Lorentz invariance in the full BFSS framework remains unresolved.
