Behavioral validity of reported ownership judgments

Determine whether ownership allocations elicited from large language models in scenario-based questions guide permission seeking and resource use in realistic settings or downstream tasks.

Background

The study evaluates LLMs by asking them to allocate ownership points among competing claimants in written scenarios. These reported allocations measure stated ownership judgments, but the paper does not test whether such judgments affect an AI system’s actions when it must decide whether to seek permission, share an object, or use a contested resource. Establishing this behavioral connection would clarify whether scenario-based ownership intuitions translate into socially appropriate conduct in realistic interactive environments and downstream applications.

References

The task asks models to report allocations in response to scenario-based questions; whether these judgments guide behavior in realistic settings or downstream tasks remains untested.
