A plausible implication is that hybrid strategies—combining hardware-friendly event-driven updates, local STDP, temporal-code backprop, and fractional/flexible optimization—will continue to close the accuracy and efficiency gap between SNNs and conventional DNNs, while unlocking new regimes of energy and hardware co-design.
