Schwarz-contractivity of the Poisson operator

Published 24 Sep 2026 in math.CV and math.FA | (2609.28938v1)

Abstract: We say that the Poisson operator PrP_r is Schwarz-contractive from a space XX to a space YY if ∣Pr∣<em>X→Y≤r|P_r|<em>{X\to Y}\le r holds for all $0<r<1$. The classical Schwarz lemma is the case H∞0→H∞H\infty_0\to H\infty, the subscript indicating zero mean. We are concerned with the non-holomorphic case L∞0→LpL\infty_0 \to Lp. For real functions Schwarz-contractivity holds up to the sharp exponent p</em>R=4.109…p</em>{\mathbb R}=4.109\ldots. For complex functions we prove it for p≤3p\le 3 and conjecture that the critical exponent is $4$.
