A -adic monodromy theorem for curves
Published 10 Sep 2026 in math.NT and math.AG | (2609.11106v1)
Abstract: We prove that every de Rham -adic local system on a smooth projective curve over a -adic field is potentially semistable; that is, it becomes semistable after pulling back along a finite cover of the curve. This establishes a relative version of the classical -adic monodromy theorem of Berger and André--Kedlaya--Mebkhout. Along the way, we also establish a -adic monodromy theorem for de Rham -adic local systems on disks and annuli.
