A deterministic (1+ε)n(1+\varepsilon)^n approximation for the permanent of a nonnegative matrix

Published 10 Sep 2026 in cs.DS and math.CO | (2609.11049v1)

Abstract: For every fixed $0<\varepsilon\le1$, we give a deterministic strongly polynomial algorithm that, given a nonnegative matrix AR0n×nA\in\mathbb{R}_{\ge0}{n\times n}, returns QQ satisfying perAQ(1+ε)nperA\operatorname{per} A\le Q\le(1+\varepsilon)n\operatorname{per} A.
