Nuclear surface energy in a semiclassical Extended Thomas-Fermi approach with finite-range interactions
Abstract: Using the Gogny finite-range interaction, we investigate a series of semiclassical approximations to the Fock term entering the calculation of the nuclear surface energy. By comparing these approximations with the exact results obtained from the full Hartree-Fock solution in semi-infinite nuclear matter, we derive a simple pocket formula that can be incorporated into fitting protocols to estimate the surface energy coefficient with excellent accuracy.
