Diameter and Girth of Representation Graphs of Quadratic Forms

Published 3 Mar 2025 in math.NT and math.CO | (2503.01721v1)

Abstract: Let qq be a non-degenerate quadratic form defined on an FF vector space VV and a∈Fa \in F. We consider the Cayley graph on VV with generating set x∈V∣q(x)=a{x \in V \mid q(x) = a} and study its diameter and girth. In particular, if FF is a finite field, we calculate these invariants and the number of cycles of minimal length in these graphs.
