On set systems without singleton intersections

Published 1 Aug 2024 in math.CO | (2408.00484v1)

Abstract: Consider a family F\mathcal{F} of kk-subsets of an ambient (k2−k+1)(k2-k+1)-set such that no pair of kk-subsets in F\mathcal{F} intersects in exactly one element. In this short note we show that the maximal size of such F\mathcal{F} is (k2−k−1k−2)\binom{k2-k-1}{k-2} for every $k > 1$.
