Strong cubic phase shifts on the photonic vacuum state

Abstract: Addition of photons to coherent states is shown to produce effects that display remarkable similarities with cubic phase shifts acting on the vacuum state, with fidelities in excess of 90 percent. The strength of the cubic interaction is found to vary inversely with the displacement of the coherent state and the strongest interactions were one order of magnitude greater than previous observations. The interaction is non-perturbative.
