Annihilation signatures of neutron dark decay models in neutron oscillation and proton decay searches

Published 9 May 2019 in hep-ph and hep-ex | (1905.03401v2)

Abstract: We point out that two models that reconcile the neutron lifetime anomaly via dark decays of the neutron, also predict dark matter-neutron (χˉ−n\bar{\chi}-n) annihilation that may be observable in neutron-antineutron oscillation and proton decay searches at Super-Kamiokande, Hyper-Kamiokande and DUNE. We study signatures of χˉn→γπ0\bar{\chi}n\to \gamma\pi0 (or multi-π0\pi0) and χˉn→ϕγπ0\bar{\chi}n\to \phi\gamma\pi0 (or ϕ+\phi+multi-π0\pi0), where ϕ\phi is an almost massless boson in one of the two models.
