An application of nonlinear supratransmission to the propagation of binary signals in weakly damped, mechanical systems of coupled oscillators (1112.0583v1)

Published 2 Dec 2011 in physics.comp-ph, math-ph, math.MP, math.NA, and nlin.CD

Abstract: In the present article, we simulate the propagation of binary signals in semi-infinite, mechanical chains of coupled oscillators harmonically driven at the end, by making use of the recently discovered process of nonlinear supratransmission. Our numerical results ---which are based on a brand-new computational technique with energy-invariant properties--- show an efficient and reliable transmission of information.
