Verification of salary estimates in LinkedIn/Revelio data

Validate the accuracy of Revelio Labs’ machine-learning salary estimates for LinkedIn profiles by comparing them directly to workers’ actual salary records to assess measurement error in wage analyses.

Background

The analysis of graduates’ early-career outcomes uses Revelio Labs’ machine-learning salary estimates derived from profiles, position details, and publicly available sources. The authors explicitly acknowledge they cannot directly verify these estimated salaries against workers’ actual salaries.

Because of this limitation, they complement wage analysis with a non-salary outcome (months to first job). Direct validation of salary estimates would strengthen inference about wage effects in LLM-exposed occupations.
